LOBO JV BASEBALL SPLITS PAIR THIS WEEKEND
The Lobo JV baseball team split a pair of games against The Woodlands Highlanders and the Elkins Knights.
In the first game the Lobos lost 2-1 in 4 1/2 innings. The game ended in the top of the 5th when time expired, with the Lobos not getting the opportunity to do some damage in the bottom of the inning. Matt Richardson had the Lobos only hit (single) in the 4th inning that later came around to the score their only run. That run held up until the top of the 5th when The Highlanders were able to scratch across two runs. The Lobo pitching was excellent as Ryan Rand, Brandon Montalvo and Dom Eramo scattered 3 hits between the three of them, striking out nine Highlander batters.
The second game saw the Lobos winning 8-2 on 6 hits, and some heads up base-running. Matt Richardson started out the scoring with a two-run blast to left center in the first inning. Ryan Rand who had just doubled, scored on the HR. Hunter Alston, Tyler Ellison, Darren Schroeder and Jeremy Maenza all had singles to contribute to the Lobo offense. The Lobo pitching again was excellent as Jeremy Maenza and Cameron McCartney scattered 4 hits and had 9 strikeouts through 5 innings of play.
The JV Lobos will travel to Aldine Westfield on Tuesday, 2/16 to face Westfield and Milby in another doubleheader. First game begins at 4:00PM with second at 6:00PM. Hope to see you there.
The Lobo JV tennis team extended their record to 4-0 on Tuesday by beating the Cy Fair bobcats in a close one 10-9.
The boy’s doubles teams of Cory Choate/Ibrahim Noorbhai and Chris Meinke/Justin Ousley all won. The girl’s doubles teams of Jennifer Carantza/Lydia Forehand and Staci Smith/ Christina Tremel won. Boy singles matches were won by Cory Choate, David Siceluff, Andrew Bradley, Phi Nguyen and Matt Wheeler.
And finally, in a really hard, and much needed match, the mixed doubles team of Brittany Adrian and Grant Gohlke won. The match against Cy Fair was not decided with 5 matches still on the court with the Lobos needed to win 2 of the matches. We got those two matches with wins from David Siceluff and Phi Nguyen.
The lobos next opponent will be Cy Woods at home on Tuesday, October 20.
Coach Hermsdorf
Hey Lobo fans and Dog Lovers,
This is Andrew Benak, a former Langham Creek student and baseball player. I graduated from Langham Creek in 2008 and from there I went to Rice University to continue my baseball career and further my education. I am now a sophomore at Rice and have decided to major in Sport Management with a minor in business.
The reason that I am sending out this email to you all is that I am in need of some help. I am in an Event and Facility Management class that is very different from any class that I have ever taken. We meet for this class every Wednesday night from 7-9:30 and instead of lectures throughout the entire class, we are given a challenge that must be conquered in order to receive a sufficient grade. The class has been given the directive to host an event to raise money.
This year the event is a dog-a-thon. For those of you that don’t know what a dog-a-thon is (don’t worry I did not know either), it is like a walk-a-thon but you do it with your dog. The purpose of this event is to raise money for Rice Women’s Athletics. We are helping out the Women’s Athletic Advisory Board, also known as the WAAB, in order to raise money for female athletes to receive scholarships. Many of my fellow classmates and friends were able to attend Rice because of these scholarships.
This event will be held on the Rice University campus on October 31, 2009, from 12-3 p.m. There will be a kid play zone for children and many other family-oriented activities. The track for walking will take you through the campus of Rice University. One lap around this track is 1000 meters, and you are encouraged to stop whenever you would like. There will be water stations set up throughout the course as well. Not only is this a great opportunity to take your dog on a walk for a great cause, but this is a great chance to come out and see the beautiful Rice University campus, and see first hand what one of its classes can do. There will also be a costume contest for the dogs, a silent auction, and many other things that will make this event worth taking the time out of your day.
Special thanks goes to Kit Kampschmidt, a Rice University graduate student and Copperfield neighbor, who is donating his time to be the “vet on call” for the event.
There is a registration fee of 25$ which allows you into the event, and allows you access to all that it has to offer.
Also, I am raising money for the event as well through a webpage online. All donations are tax deductible, and remember they are all going to a great cause to help out Women’s Athletics. The URL for my webpage is:

Any and all donations no matter how big or small are welcome, and a portion of the proceeds go to local animal shelters. If anyone is interested in coming to this event, please contact me as soon as possible through email or by phone. I really hope that some of y’all can make it out to this event to see the hard work that we have put in to this class, as well as to support Women’s Athletics.

The Fall Lobo Varsity Baseball Squad went back to work this weekend by going on the road and sweeping a double header from the Pearland Oilers. Pearland was a State Quarterfinalist last season but the Lobos were up to the task, taking the first game 4-0, and completing the sweep with a 4-2 come from behind victory in game two.
The Lobos received outstanding pitching performances from Jeffrey Romine, Joe Guzman, Michael Gothard, and Logan Onda. The Lobo bats were hot as well collecting 13 hits on the day including 6 extra base hits. The Lobos were led at the dish by Nick Garza, Carter Mangum, Jeremy Leonhardt, Jake Kocurek, Tim Yan, Robert Butler, Aaron Ballou, and Brandon Montalvo.
Great Job Lobos!
Congratulations to Cameron Elliott for being named Memorial Herman Athlete of the Week! The Lobo Varsity Football Players will appear on Channel 2 News Wednesday night @10:00 and reruns Thursday morning at 6:00.
